Problems returning to work following cancer treatment?
Although a high proportion of women with ovarian cancer return to work
following treatment, returning
to work can be a major challenge for an increasing number of women. Research
tells us that the majority of women receiving cancer treatment such as
chemotherapy can experience side effects such as fatigue and depression which
can be made worse when returning to work. As work plays an important financial and
social role, there is need to identify how working life can improved for such
women so that they can continue working with fewer problems.
Loughborough University is carrying
out a questionnaire survey with the Mental Health Foundation on how people adjust to work following
a period of absence due to illness. They
are interested in people that returned to work following time off for cancer.
If interested, you can complete the survey online at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=989403671343
The survey asks
number of questions about you and your illness, your well-being, how you manage
your illness at work, the barriers you have encountered in returning to work
and the type of support you have found most useful. Findings from the survey will be used to provide better
information for employers in supporting women undergoing or recovering from
cancer at work.
