Where can I get the answers to detailed medical questions?
Being told you have cancer, or that your cancer has returned, can leave you feeling shocked, upset and isolated. You and your family will have many questions to be answered and feelings to deal with. Sharing how you feel about having cancer with people who understand can help. There are many sources of information and support for you and your family and you may find the following details helpful and a good starting point.
CancerBACUP runs cancer support groups. These are attended by medical professionals who can answer detailed clinical questions. However, they will not usually answer questions about your individual treatment.
Macmillan Cancer Relief offers practical advice and emotional support for people living with cancer, their families, friends and carers.
Dipex provides online access to the personal experiences of other people with cancer.
Local support groups
Some hospitals run local support groups, attended by medical professionals who can answer practical and clinical questions. If the group is patient-led, you may not be able to get answers to questions about your individual care. However, you will be able to share your experiences and learn from others in a similar situation. Ask your local hospital for details.
Ovacome
Please note that we cannot offer individual medical advice. However, we can provide information and support, and put you in touch with other women who have ovarian cancer.
