Getting the right care for you

You need to ensure that the doctors who are dealing with you are experienced in the care of someone with ovarian cancer. Although it may be difficult, it would be wise to enquire if the doctor whose care you are under sees many women with ovarian cancer.

It is also helpful to be in a centre which not only has a specialist doctor but also has specialist back-up staff: gynae nurses, chemo nurses; counsellors; dieticians etc.

Macmillan has leaflets available and more information on specialist centres if you are unsure.
